Chicago IL, September 30, 2008 - GCT Semiconductor, a leading supplier of Mobile WiMAX solutions to the global market, today announced that the industry's first Mobile WiMAX plus WiFi single chip, GDM7215, has been selected by xchange magazine as a finalist to receive the Best of WiMAX World 2008 Award in the Chip Design category, and has been nominated to receive the Best of WiMAX World 2008 Industry Choice Award.

GDM7215 provides a total solution for wireless terminal applications requiring Mobile WiMAX and WiFi dual connectivity by implementing Mobile WiMAX RF, MAC and PHY plus WiFi RF, MAC and PHY all in one monolithic integrated circuit. Being demonstrated at WiMAX World 2008 in Chicago, IL, on October 1-2 (booth #839), GDM7215 supports multimode wireless connectivity with its on-chip RF transceivers, allowing seamless broadband and local wireless roaming.

"We are pleased to be recognized by the industry for the breakthrough technology we have developed enabling WiMAX™ plus WiFi dual connectivity in an easy to implement single-chip solution," commented Dr. KH Lee, President and CEO of GCT Semiconductor. "The innovation behind this chip design enables our customers to offer mobile systems with revolutionary internet connectivity in ever-shrinking form factors."

The annual awards recognize leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies. Nominations were open to exhibitors, sponsors and speakers at the WiMAX World Conference World & Expo, held Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 in Chicago, and selected by a judging panel of experts from the WiMAX community. Delegates to the WiMAX World 2008 conference will vote for the Industry Choice Award winner. The awards will be presented Oct. 1 at a ceremony following the close of the WiMAX World exhibition floor.

"xchange congratulates GCT for being a finalist in this innovative Chip Design category," said Mike Saxby, group publisher of xchange. "The nominees for these awards are among the best and brightest in the field, showcasing the rapid advancement of WiMAX technology."
